I believe it! I surely do.
I believe that God tests our relationship with Jesus Christ many times while we are on earth. Believers and unbelievers.
It’s not just when you lose a loved one or lose a job, but other scenarios as well.
I believe that God constantly is trying to show the world His value system and that money is not as important as we make it out to be (Matthew 6:24). I believe that God is trying to show the world that this thing, money, we cling so tightly too will not be able to save us in life threatening moments.
And what is the moment when we come face-to-face with God after we die and He determines if we make it into heaven or will spend eternity in hell?
A life threatening moment.
Your life literally is in God’s hands and He, nobody else, decides whether you will spend eternity with Him or not. Your life has always been in His hands. Since before you were born.
So when a plane is experiencing Extreme turbulence, whether it be a commercial plane or a private jet or when the doctor says that your family member is brain dead and there is not much left to do, what good does money do you then? It has NO VALUE at all.
All that money that you busted your tail off to earn and missed out on countless family dinners and trips. All that money that you worked so hard for which in turned ruined your marriage and later led to a divorce. All that money that you cheated your way up the ladder at work to get to.
What worth does it have then? None.
Because, in my opinion, God is always testing us. Seeing if we will lean on Jesus or money.
God wants everyone to come to heaven.
He wants everyone to care more about relationships than money. Relationships with our family, friends and other people in general. And of coarse care about our relationship with Him. That, in my opinion, should be first – your relationship with God. It’s our Greatest Commandment:
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
-Matthew 22:36-40 (New International Version)
God wants you to adopt His value system and forget the worlds!
This is why everyone in their lifetime has a loved one who is on the brink of death or a plane experiencing extreme turbulence. Pretty much everyone has a life threatening moment where money won’t save them.
“But what if the person who believes in God over money’s family member still dies or the plane still crashes and they die?”
If the person whose family member died believed in Christ, they may have been able to bring Jesus to that loved ones attention right before their dying breath. Thus sealing a bond that would guarantee them a spot in heaven. Or that person could have started talking to that loved one who passed about Jesus way back before they got sick. So they would be ready to die when that time came. Knowing they would spend it with Christ and give both persons peace.
With the person on the plane – their future in eternity would be sealed as well if they had faith and belief in Jesus Christ before they crashed.
Death is coming for us all, whether we want to believe it or not. But if we pay attention to these life threatening moments God throws our way on earth to test us, we will be ready for when the REAL life threatening moment comes.
When we come face-to-face with our Creator one day.
If my plane experiences turbulence, knowing that money will do nothing, I cling to praying to Jesus and knowing that He is always with me (Matthew 28:20). If my loved one is on the brink of death and doctors don’t believe there is much left that they can do, I cling to Jesus in prayer. Asking if He has any answers or final prayers I should say with them.
So that’s just what I believe. Not saying you have to believe the same.
I, honestly, just want everyone to go to heaven – including myself. I want us to see each life threatening moment that comes our way in the future as God testing us. Testing us to see if we will lean on Him and truly realize how small money matters in those moments, but how BIG God is in the peace He can provide you and me knowing that we are good because of our relationship with Jesus Christ.
A relationship that is eternally sealed and more valuable than any amount of money.
